Glen Dimplex Group acquires Real Flame

The Glen Dimplex Group is proud to announce it has acquired Real Flame, an iconic Australian Gas Fireplace company based in Melbourne. Combined with the existing brands of Dimplex, Nobo, Masport, Osburn and Escea, Glen Dimplex Australia now holds an unrivalled position in the Australian heating and fireplace market.

Founded in 1973, Glen Dimplex is a leading international group, the world's largest manufacturer of electrical heating, and also holds significant global market positions in domestic appliances, cooling, ventilation, and renewable energy solutions. Glen Dimplex Australia is in its tenth year and Real Flame represents the first Australian acquisition for the group.

Real Flame was founded in 1983 and has progressively grown to be the leaders in gas fireplace technology in Australia.  Real Flame Managing Director Mark Blankfield said “I am amazed that a company of Glen Dimplex’s size has the same two philosophies that Real Flame has always prided itself in, namely, care and consideration for those “family members” who make up the team and for pride in their respective brands.” He went on to say “Glen Dimplex brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and technical ability to the table which will take Real Flame to the next level as the preeminent manufacturer and distributor of quality gas fire products.”

Based in Scoresby, Melbourne, Real Flame has been designing and manufacturing gas fireplaces in Australia for over thirty years. During this time it has established itself as a leading brand with a significant following in the architect and specifier community. To this end, Real Flame proudly created the Architectural Design Award to foster innovation within the Australian design industry.

Real Flame boasts company showrooms in Richmond and Scoresby in Victoria and in Chatswood in NSW. Complementing these is a large distribution model that includes showrooms in every state excluding NT.

Glen Dimplex Australia Managing Director, David Woodward, emphasized the importance of this acquisition to the Australian business: “We have been importing and distributing products across Australia for many years, to now have our own manufacturing facility will really put us on the map and enhance our credibility. We are serious about local manufacturing and will continue to design and build world class products on the existing site in Scoresby.”

“Real Flame have fantastic long term relationships with Architects, Interior Designers and Specifiers and we look forward to introducing our other group brands to these important decision makers in the near future”

“We would like to assure all our Real Flame customers that it will be business as usual and you can continue to expect all the exceptional products and support that you have enjoyed in the past. Mark Blankfield has built a fantastic team and distribution network over many years and we would like to thank him for years of hard work. Mark will continue to work with us until the end of June 2016 to ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption.”

Group Chairman and CEO, Sean O’Driscoll commented “Glen Dimplex is delighted that such a fine business as Real Flame is joining our Group.  Over many years we have watched Mark Blankfield and his team build an exceptional brand and business.  Under our ownership we plan to build on this success and to take the brand and the business to even bigger heights”.
